Dr. Matt Davis was interviewed on WDIV Detroit, a local NBC affiliate, about the results of a C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health that asked adults to rank the top health concerns for children in 2013. The overall top three concerns for children were childhood obesity, drug abuse, and smoking/tobacco use, but the individual rankings among different races and ethnicities varied.
"Childhood obesity remains a top concern, but it is essential to look at differences in perception based on race and ethnicity," Davis told WDIV. "Medical and public health providers should be aware that different communities could have different priorities about what health problems are most important."
In addition to his appointment at the Ford School, Davis is the director of the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health, the chief medical executive for the State of Michigan, and an associate professor of pediatrics and internal medicine at the U-M Medical School.
