The U-M Board of Regents candidates forum, held at the Ford School of Public Policy, was covered by the Michigan Daily and MLive.com.
The forum included the four major-party candidates – Mike Behm (D), Rob Steele (R), Ronald Weiser (R), and Kathy White (D) – vying for two expiring seats on the board. White, a current U-M regent, is seeking re-election.
The event, which took place Friday, Oct. 24 in the Annenberg Auditorium, was moderated by Susan Smith, president of the League of Women Voters of Michigan, and began with an introduction by Susan M. Collins, dean of the Ford School. Approximately 75 people were in attendance and another 50 joined via live webstream.
The Board of Regents is currently comprised of eight members who serve eight-year, unpaid terms. Voting takes place Tuesday, Nov. 4.
