As Stephanie Gray-Chang (MPP/MSW ‘14) makes history as the first Asian American woman to serve in the Michigan legislature (State Representative, Southwestern Detroit District 6), she’s spotlighted in the January 2015 Hour Detroit story, “Advocacy on the Agenda.”
The Q&A with Hour Detroit reporter Dorothy Hernandez (featured on page 32 of the monthly magazine for metro Detroit residents) highlights Chang’s background as a community organizer and her advocacy agenda--particularly in education and public safety--as she begins her first legislative term.
Chang, a recent graduate of the Ford School, was a 2012 David Bohnett Foundation Leadership and Public Service Fellow. Generously funded by University of Michigan alumnus David Bohnett (MBA '80), the fellowship places competitively selected master’s of public policy students in the City of Detroit Mayor’s Office to work on mayoral policy priorities. In 2012, Chang served Detroit Mayor David Bing.
