Welcoming our newly elected Alumni Board members

Six Ford School alumni have been elected to the Alumni Board by their peers. The term starts January 1, 2020 and runs through December 31, 2022. The newly-elected members are:

  • Grace Evans (MPP ‘16)
    Richard King Mellon Foundation, Program Associate
  • Portia Hemphill (PhD ‘15)
    U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Promise Zones Program Manager
  • Sylvia Herzog (MPP/MBA ‘88) re-elected
    The Charcoal Project, Director
  • Omair Khan (MPP ‘18)
    RAND Corporation, Assistant Policy Researcher and PhD student
  • David Leapheart (BA ‘10)
    Federal Judiciary, Term Clerk
  • Mellie Torres (MPP ‘97)
    The Graduate Center at City University of New York, Visiting Assistant Professor

Two student representatives selected by their peers, Charles Kargman (MPP ‘20) and Finn Storer (BA ‘20), will serve from January 1, 2020 until December 31, 2020.

The newly elected board members first meeting will be April 3-4, 2020.

Alumni Board members work to increase the visibility of the Ford School; to strengthen the school’s alumni network; and to assist the school with student recruitment, career services, and alumni relations activities. Recent Alumni Board initiatives include the annual Worldwide Ford School Spirit Day events, fundraising efforts for student support, and student mock interviews and resume reviews.

Alumni Board members serve three-year terms and six seats open for election each year to encourage broad alumni involvement and representation.
