In anticipation of President Biden's meeting with Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani, which addressed questions about what the relationship between the two countries will look like once the U.S. military leaves the area, Javed Ali, incoming associate professor of practice, weighed in on how the change will affect the intelligence community.

"Without the military to support (the intelligence), I don’t have a good feeling about our ability to understand what’s happening on the ground in that fine level of detail,” Ali said. “We’ve seen this movie in the past, and it’s never good when we significantly reduce that intelligence presence.”
