Levy explains connection between Medicaid and more jobs

May 23, 2021 NPR Marketplace

According to NPR Marketplace, if the 14 states that have not expanded Medicaid do, they would create more than a million jobs in 2022. Helen Levy, a research professor at the U-M Institute for Social Research with a courtesy appointment at the Ford School, explained how it would stimulate the economy in other ways, too.

For example, more people would be working at Michigan Medicine if Medicaid was expanded. “More people are going to be making more money, and they’re going to stop at Angelo’s for lunch,” Levy said.
