“We’re going to get some gains coming out of this pandemic, but we want to make sure that those gains are more evenly shared, and that we’re supporting workers at the bottom and not just workers at the top," said Betsey Stevenson, also noting the disproportionate impact of the losses.
Speaking about the policy gaps that should be addressed, Stevenson says congress must provide supports to get women back into the workforce, and catch up to other countries in terms of paid leave. "We underreacted in 2008. It took too long to recover from that. I think we need to risk going a little bit bigger this time knowing we will get all the way back."
