Jeffrey Morenhoff, The Detroit News: Researcher Jeffrey Morenoff, a professor of sociology at UM and a faculty affiliate of the U-M Population Studies Center, was one of the researchers who originally studied the potential undercount and called it "egregious." When he saw the new numbers, he said he was baffled, because evidence he had seen indicated potential growth. "If this were a football game, and I were a coach, I would definitely throw a challenge flag," he said. "I hope that one day we will be able to learn enough about the Census Bureau's process to determine whether this was a fair call."
