Ali comments on increase in "swatting"

November 27, 2024 The Telegraph

Javed Ali, associate professor of practice at the Gerald R Ford School of Public Policy, who is a former FBI agent, said swatting was used to “intimidate or actually try to physically threaten somebody”.

“Sometimes it could just be retaliation for some kind of personal grievance”, he told The Telegraph.

“Other times it could be something that’s more ideologically based... maybe it’s when people are in the news, either while they’re in government or potentially leaving government or going into a new administration.”
