The Ford School partners with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute

February 14, 2024

The University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) are proud to announce a new partnership to help launch promising students on a path toward careers in public service. Qualified CHCI alumni are now eligible to receive an application fee waiver, and admitted students are awarded at least a 25% tuition reduction toward the Master of Public Policy program. The partnership between the Ford School and the CHCI will last five years.

“We’re delighted to partner with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute,” says Dustin Castro, associate director for recruiting and admissions. “Our collaboration reflects our shared dedication to nurturing leaders who prioritize the public good through policy analysis, debate, and advocacy. Together, we aim to educate and empower a new generation of policy professionals who will promote the interests of the communities they serve.”

The CHCI offers civic engagement and leadership programs for high school through postgraduate students in Washington, DC. CHCI interns and fellows gain insight into the legislative process, advocate for underrepresented groups, and research pressing issues for Latino communities.

In addition to CHCI, the Ford School has admissions partnerships with several other high-profile organizations including Teach for America, AmeriCorps, the Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA) Junior Summer Institute, Govern for AmericaPickering Fellows, Rangel Scholars, and Payne Scholars, and the U.S. Peace Corps. Through these partnerships, the Ford School has helped launch promising students toward careers in public service.
