This fall, the Ford School of Public Policy launched its bold, multi-year capital campaign with a transformative goal: to raise $70 million. These funds will enhance student scholarships, establish endowed professorships, support groundbreaking faculty research, and drive various strategic programs and initiatives. This campaign is part of the University of Michigan’s historic $7 billion Look to Michigan campaign, which merges philanthropy with the university’s Vision 2034 initiative.
“Public policy matters,” said Dean Celeste Watkins-Hayes. “At the Ford School, we embrace the enduring legacy of our namesake president: integrity, service, and a commitment to working across differences to find viable solutions. We need creative, evidence-based policy solutions to strengthen our democratic institutions and tackle pressing challenges in education, health, climate policy, energy, technological change, and other important issues. Our capital campaign is essential for equipping the next generation of public policy leaders to meet this critical moment.”
The Look to the Ford School campaign aims to:
- Prepare policy leaders of high character for challenging times;
- Attract and support the world’s most brilliant problem solvers; and
- Build a more just and peaceful world.
Leading the charge in donor engagement, Chief Development Officer Sue Johnson emphasizes the pivotal role of philanthropy at the Ford School. "Our top priority is to support Ford School students," said Johnson. "Fellowships and scholarships allow us to attract diverse, talented individuals and break down financial barriers to a top-tier policy education. Donor contributions also enable us to recruit and retain exceptional faculty, fund pioneering research, and enhance programs that prepare students to solve pressing policy challenges. The generosity of our donors is essential to advancing our mission as a school.”
