Ford School names first James McIntire Fellow

October 27, 2025

The Ford School is proud to recognize Grant Bradley (MPP ‘27) as the first recipient of the James McIntire Fellowship. The newly endowed fund provides tuition support for Master of Public Policy students who have a strong interest in public infrastructure and sustainability.

Prior to graduate school, Bradley launched a campaign for the Michigan House of Representatives. He has also held roles with the Ingham County Economic Development Corporation and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Boards of Directors as Secretary and Treasurer. His interests are focused on transit policy, urban development, sustainable energy, and domestic politics. A Michigan native, Bradley received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in Political Science and History, with a minor in Asian Studies.

“I am incredibly honored to accept the McIntire Fellowship,” said Bradley. “It has allowed me to earn a world class education at the Ford School and pursue building a sustainably-minded future.”

The James McIntire Fellowship Fund was established by the late James (Jim) McIntire (MPP ‘78) and his wife Christina Koons. In 2024, Jim was honored with the Neil Staebler Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes outstanding professional achievement in public service and a commitment to the mission and values of the Ford School. Over the course of his 45-year-long career, Jim served as the elected Washington State Treasurer from 2009-2017, supported multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects, and helped educate a generation of public policy experts at the University of Washington School of Public Policy and Governance.

“Jim was a firm believer in education and in giving people opportunities to learn,” said Christina Koons. “The Ford School gave him his ticket to move forward, and this fellowship lets him follow through with that vision and let it continue in perpetuity.”
