Stevenson says US labor market is softening

March 18, 2025 Bloomberg

The Ford School's Betsey Stevenson recently spoke with Bloomberg about the outlook for the U.S. labor market. Following a strong positive trend over the past few months, the labor market is now anticipated to soften with more people expected to face job lay-offs. Stevenson stated, "It looks like a much larger share of people changing jobs are doing it [looking for new jobs] because they’re forced to leave their old job, or they see the writing on the wall that they’re going to lose that job, rather than fresh opportunities."
