Quanda Hunter is an innovative leader and storyteller with more than 15 years of expertise in marketing, communications, and brand strategy spanning higher education and the private sector. As Director of Marketing and Communications at the Ford School, she leads a dynamic team dedicated to advancing the school’s visibility and reputation through creative, results-driven cross-platform campaigns. Her strategic vision ensures meaningful connections with prospective students, alumni, academic and policy communities, and the broader public, all in alignment with the Ford School’s mission and values.

Quanda’s career includes shaping impactful marketing strategies and communications for organizations such as Calix, IBM, and American Express. She began her professional journey as an advertising sales account executive for Johnson Publishing Company—publisher of Ebony and Jet Magazines. This breadth of experience allows her to blend creativity, purposeful leadership, and a relationship-driven approach to deliver engaging and relevant communications.

A proud University of Michigan alum, Quanda earned her MBA with a focus on strategic brand marketing from the Ross School of Business, and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Howard University. Originally from New York, Quanda moved to Ann Arbor with her family and was inspired to apply her private-sector experience within the university environment, joining the Ford School during a pivotal time for higher education.

Outside of work, Quanda enjoys spending quality time with her family. She finds inspiration in everyday moments, values authentic relationships, and strives to create environments—at work and at home—where people can connect, grow, and thrive.
