Siwen Xiao

Siwen Xiao is a joint Ph.D. student in Public Policy and Political Science. Her research employs mixed methods and lies at the intersection of science, technology, and society (STS) and comparative politics. In her dissertation project, she uses an interpretive approach to study how science education in non-school settings, such as science museums, is shaped by power dynamics and influences public understanding of science. She previously worked as a researcher at the UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation, where she studied China's science, technology, innovation, and industrial policies. She holds a Master's in International Affairs from UC San Diego.
