Sheriff Almakki (MPP ‘24), a biochemist interested in national security, describes his career pivot and path to the Ford School.

0:00:10.6 SA: I came to Ford because I wanted to change careers. Previously, I was a biochemist, but as a Syrian American, I'd spent a lot of time doing Syrian refugee advocacy and activism, and I found myself thinking about it a lot and thinking how I could make a bigger impact.

0:00:25.5 SA: Ford has been such an amazing experience and community. The professors are engaged, the students are engaged. I find myself impressed every single day with the people who are in my classroom and in my extra-curriculars, and it has a feeling of community that I feel like you wouldn't get at some of the other programs that might be our peer institutions.
