Economic mobility in the United States is lowest among people of color and those who live in persistent poverty areas.  This course will explore the role community development plays in increasing economic mobility in America?s Deep South, a region comprised of states with the highest proportions of Blacks in the population, and that is home to 1/3 of the nation?s persistent poverty counties, and examine the nexus between community development practice and policy.
