Join the Program in Practical Policy Engagement for a discussion with Dexter Mason, head of social impact and DEI strategy at Buzzer. Dexter also previously worked at the Kresge Foundation, RISE, and the Obama White House. 

From the speaker's bio

Hailing from metro Detroit, Dexter Mason is currently the head of social impact and DEI strategy at Buzzer, a technology company that delivers personalized live moments in sports to fans. Prior to joining Buzzer, Dexter was the special assistant to the president at the Kresge Foundation, where he led strategic initiatives and the executive office’s top internal and external priorities. Additionally, Dexter has served as the director of events and marketing at the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE), a national nonprofit organization that uses the power of sports to improve race relations and drive social progress. Before moving back to Detroit, Dexter was a political appointee at the White House during President Barack Obama’s administration and a staff assistant in Office of United States Senator Gary Peters (MI).

In the community, Dexter serves as the vice president of the Founders Junior Council at the Detroit Institute of Arts, on the board of directors for the Michigan Opera Theatre, and was recently appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer (MI) to serve on her Young Professionals Finance Council. Additionally, he was a 2019 Fellow in the Michigan Political Leadership Program and was named a Mackinac Future Leader during the 2018 Mackinac Policy Conference through the Detroit Regional Chamber. Dexter holds degrees from Georgetown University and the University of Michigan.
