Ford School Pride Month Celebration

In honor of Pride Month, the DEI team invites you to join us for an ice cream social and film screening of the iconic 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning. The ice cream bar will open at 1:00pm and the film screening will begin promptly at 1:15pm. Pronoun stickers and a viewing guide for Paris Is Burning will be available for all attendees.

This event is free and open to Ford School students, faculty, and staff.

About the film

Paris Is Burning is a 1990 documentary film directed by Jennie Livingston. Filmed in the mid-to-late 1980s, it chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the Black, Latino, gay, and transgender communities at the center of it. Made over seven years, Paris Is Burning offers an intimate portrait of rival fashion “houses,” from fierce contests for trophies to house mothers offering sustenance in a world rampant with homophobia, transphobia, racism, AIDS, and poverty. The film is timeless and has become an important cornerstone of queer and trans culture.
