Walk to the Polls: all-community gathering
Date & time
Location
The Michigan Presidential Primary is February 27th which is during Spring Break. But don’t worry: Michigan now has nine days of early voting! The entire Ford School community is invited to join as our amazing student organization Turn Up the Turnout (TUT) leads an all-community lunch and Walk to the Polls on February 20, 2024, 11:30-1:00.
We are using this time to bring our entire community together for food and fellowship and offer the opportunity for those wanting to vote early to Walk to the Poll at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) together.
Lunch for all will be served from 11:30-1:00, and the Walk to the Polls will leave Weill Hall at 12:15 p.m.
What can we do at UMMA?
UMMA (just two blocks up State Street) has an art installation and satellite Ann Arbor clerk’s office.
- Fordies who are eligible to vote and want to vote in Ann Arbor** are encouraged to participate in the Walk to the Polls; at UMMA they will be able to register to vote, update their registration, get their ballot, and/or vote on-site.
What if I vote elsewhere, or can’t vote?
- For everyone else–U.S. citizens voting elsewhere in Michigan or in their home states, and for our international students–members of Turn Up Turnout will be at the lunch to answer questions about out-of-state voting and other ways to be civically engaged on campus.
For more information check UMICH Votes or reach out to Cindy Bank in our Communications and Outreach office.
*Additional early voting dates are from February 17-25 from 11am - 7pm
**In Michigan, college students have a choice to either register to vote using their student address and vote in Michigan, or their permanent home address and vote at home.
