The story discusses the "Environmental Federalism: Current Issues and Opportunities" conference recently hosted by Georgetown University's Center for Business & Public Policy.
Rabe, an invited conference panelist, and others discussed the complicated nature of state-level greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction programs and renewable portfolio standards (RPS). Though complex, GHG reduction programs are helping states to reduce emissions, create new jobs, and generally boost their economies. Many states are also creating new partnerships, like the Northeast Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, to tackle these issues on a regional level.
