Ford School alumna recognized for outstanding performance by a public sector employee in New Orleans

Jennifer Cecil (MPP '09) received a Merit Award at the Bureau of Governmental Research's Excellence in Government Awards in on September 24 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Establish in 1994, the annual program recognizes government employees for outstanding performance and creative problem-solving.

Cecil is the director of operations for the City of New Orleans' One-Stop Shop, which houses information on all permits, licenses, and City Planning Commission actions in a single place. The goal is to break down the barriers between departments and make accessing information on city regulated activities as timely and efficient as possible for the citizens of New Orleans.

Cecil has worked for New Orleans local government since graduating from the Ford School, serving initially in the capital projects administration. She began overseeing the city's "one-stop shop" initiative as it was first rolled out in 2012.
