The spring 2014 edition of State & Hill magazine features a ten-page, photo-rich historical timeline highlighting the history of America's first graduate-level training program in public administration. The Ford School is now preparing a longer, web-based version for launch this fall, and seeks input and suggestions from Ford School students, faculty, alumni, and friends.
"Choosing a dozen events a decade, on average, is no simple task," explains Susan M. Collins, Joan and Sanford Weill Dean of Public Policy, in State & Hill. "Of course you include the firsts—first director, first alumnus, first alumna, first Detroit internship, first endowment, and more—but what else goes in? What's left out?"
With magazine space limitations, we left a good deal out—far too much. So we plan to release a far more thorough timeline this fall, which will be permanently available online. All faculty and alumni, and children and grandchildren of faculty and alumni, are encouraged to submit stories, memorabilia, and photographs.
