On May 30, Susan M. Collins will conclude a two-year term as president of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA). Dedicated to the improvement of professional education in international affairs, APSIA seeks to advance international understanding, prosperity, peace, and security.
The achievements of Collins’ two-year term will shape the organization's future for years to come. She led efforts to recruit a new executive director for the association, revamped the membership process and criteria, enhanced the transparency of the election process, and created three task forces to address timely challenges and opportunities.
Collins will continue to serve on one of those groups—the diversity task force—in the years ahead.
"It's been a tremendous honor and a pleasure to serve an organization whose mission and work is so vital to preparing future generations of leaders," says Collins. "I'm grateful for the hard work and collegiality of my fellow deans, and for the excellent support provided by the APSIA staff team."
“It has been a privilege working with Susan during her time as APSIA president,” says Carmen Iezzi Mezzera, executive director of APSIA. “She guided the association through several key periods of transition and leaves the office of the president with APSIA even stronger than before.”
Susan M. Collins is the Joan and Sanford Weill Dean of Public Policy and a professor of public policy and economics at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
