October 20, 2017

University of Michigan faculty Theodore Iwashyna (Internal Medicine) and Anne Sales (Learning Health Sciences) were awarded a $3 million grant by the National Institutes of Health for their proposal to create a postdoctoral training program for clinician-scientists.

Their team includes 15 faculty members and mentors from disciplines across U-M, including Medicine, Nursing, Business, Education, Public Policy, and more. Susan Dynarski, of the Ford School, is among them.

The interdisciplinary program, called Training to Advance Care through Implementation Science in Cardiac and Lung Illnesses (TACTICAL), will support five scholars over a period of three years each. Scholars will be immersed in rigorous training on implementation science and health services research, including formal coursework, mentored independent research, and individualized research resulting in published papers.
