Russia continues to launch cyberattacks against the U.S., and Javed Ali says it doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon.
"Russia does not yet seem to be deterred from launching a whole slew of operations against the United States," Ali said.
So far, there have been large cyberattacks on Colonial Pipeline, an oil pipeline operator, and JBS, a meat producer.
"I don't think it's going to lead to people not being able to get poultry or meat products, but it will make it harder for suppliers to provide those types of goods and services," Ali told ABC News. "The implications are difficult to determine in advance."
Ali explained how the latest cyberattacks signify a spike in cyberattacks originating from Russia.
"The fact that this kind of activity is happening with a relatively high frequency and also all signs sort of leading back to Russia, that is very disturbing," Ali added. "I don't think we've seen a period of this kind of high-intensity cyber operations from Russian soil directed against a variety of different U.S. targets arguably ever, unless the government has been tracking this and the public details of those types of operations haven't been revealed before."
