Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is planning to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week. The meeting could affect Brazil's relationship with the United States, due to the current circumstances in Ukraine.

"It is not possible for Brazil to ignore the symbolic significance of this trip," Melvyn Levitsky, professor of international policy and practice, said. "This is not the time to discuss bilateral relations with Russia, as they threaten to invade their neighbor. Of course, the United States is not happy with the plan, (and neither) are the Europeans."
