The Ford School is proud to announce that the Rackham Graduate School awarded Mandy Mitchell (MPP ‘22) with the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) Award.
Mitchell served as the GSI for PubPol 580: Values & Ethics in Public Policy from Winter 2020 to Fall 2021.
The Outstanding GSI Award recognizes “the efforts and accomplishments of GSIs who demonstrate extraordinary dedication and excellence as teachers” and “who display the highest levels of commitment, creativity and skill in the classroom.”
David Thacher, associate professor of public policy and urban planning, was the instructor for the sections of PubPol 580 that Mandy taught.
“Mandy is the best GSI I have ever worked with, for this or any other course,” Thacher said. “Mandy’s unique background, including a Ph.D. in philosophy and broad knowledge of many policy areas, made her ideally suited to serve as an effective GSI for the course. Knowing that she had a deep command of the course material, I was able to experiment with new approaches to the course that simply would not have been possible without her.”
Other Ford School alumni who have received the award include Ben Curtiss Lusher (MPP/MBA ‘14), Cree Jones (MPP/JD '13), and Lloyd Grieger (MPP '04)
