Research administrator Maryclaire Ellis is among 10 staff recognized for their service by the University of Michigan Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR).
The annual OVPR research recognition awards honor staff expertise and support of research and scholarship activities across the University of Michigan.
Ellis received the Outstanding New Research Administration Recognition Award.
Ellis has been a Research Administrator with the Ford School since April 2019. She'd previously worked as a research administrator with the University of Washington after beginning her career as a middle school math teacher.
In her nearly three years with the Ford School, Ellis has demonstrated tremendous initiative, and has grown into a leadership role within the research administration team.
She independently manages the pre‐ and post‐award processes for her entire research support portfolio, currently ten faculty and four research centers. This includes a number of the Ford School’s more complex federally‐sponsored awards, as well as numerous non‐federal sponsored awards and internally funded research.
Nominating faculty noted Ellis' work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to skillfully synthesize and translate detailed information for individuals at different levels of the organization.
"This is wonderful and well-deserved recognition for Maryclaire's outstanding work on behalf of the Ford School," said Dean Michael S. Barr. "She's been such a great addition to the school's research administration team. We're proud of Maryclaire, and grateful for all of the ways in which she's making a big difference for our faculty and our mission."
OVPR launched its research staff recognition awards in 2001, and in an effort to more broadly acknowledge the efforts of individuals whose work strengthens the university research enterprise, they revised the awards this year to reflect new award categories. This year's awards recognize the breadth of research staff roles, from research data work and facilities management to research administration and leadership.
Ellis and the other award recipients will be recognized on May 17 in the Alexander G. Ruthven Building's University Hall.
