Ostfeld partners with University of Puerto Rico to create stronger survey data

December 7, 2022

Collaborating with the University of Puerto Rico and acting as primary investigator, Ford School professor Mara Ostfeld, helped launch the Puerto Rican Public Opinion Laboratory (LabPOP). LabPOP aims to be the first to obtain data about the political opinion of Puerto Ricans, specifically on issues like political participation, political parties, and territorial status.

A grant from the National Science Foundation, the University of Michigan Anti-Racist Grant, and the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) gave 24 UPR students the opportunity to be trained in data collection and canvassing. The students' work will allow survey research in Puerto Rico to have a large and diverse sample to choose from.
