New research from the Pew Research Center shows that the amount of U.S. residents living in multigenerational households has quadrupled in the last 50 years and that these families are more financially secure. Natasha Pilkauskas, associate professor of public policy, discussed how multigenerational living impacts families.

“When you live together you kind of enable people to work. So if a grandparent can help with child care, for example, then maybe the parent generation has an easier time remaining in the labor force,” Pilkauskas said.
