Presidential candidate Vice-President Kamala Harris has plans to expand the child tax credit if granted presidency in the upcoming 2024 election. Discussing her research on the expansion of the child tax credit from 2021, the Ford School's Natasha Pilkauskas alludes to "positive outcomes" under Harris's proposed plan. Pilkauskas mentioned this isn't just about children; "We know from other studies that parents usually try to shield their children first, so they’re more likely to actually experience hunger to make sacrifices for their children. But we also know being a hungry parent doesn’t lead to good parenting... I have yet to see a study that shows this was a bad thing.”
