John R. Chamberlin spoke to the Detroit Free Press about the resignation of Renee Axt, the former chairwoman of the Detroit Metro Airport board.
According to the article authors, Axt resigned a few days after the Wayne County executive called for any board members with a conflict of interest to step down from the board. The authors contend that though Axt cited personal reasons for her resignation, an amended conflict of interest statement (linked from this Free Press article) revealed that she had personal and professional relationships that should have been disclosed at an earlier date.
Chamberlin described Axt's withholdings as either "sloppy or willful misreporting." "I can't think of an excuse for not having noted that on the form at the time," he said. "I think that's a real problem. That's just not responsible and professional behavior on her part."
