As Democrats face a potentially disastrous midterm season with high gas prices caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, they are doing an about-face on some of their climate pledges.
Barry Rabe, J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Professor of Public Policy, told E&E News, "“It felt like ‘Back to the Future’ all over again, where you have legislators who are trying to position themselves at a point where there’s demand for more oil and gas production fast — and lower prices... And in this case, things like greenhouse gas emissions seemingly go out the window.”
