
NewHour turned to the Ford School's Don Moynihan seeking an explanation for the recent removal of American military history from the U.S. Department of Defense website. Moynihan told NewsHour "There’s certain codewords that are being used to detect images or stories and anything that is associated with those words, at least in the short-term, is being pulled out. And as you point out, this can lead to, sort of very clumsy or erroneous outcomes, in some cases it leads to outcomes that really don’t make a lot of sense." NewsHour highlights that the stories being censored contain words or individuals related to topics of DEI and LGBTQIA+.
