Jeffrey D. Morenoff

Associate Dean for Research and Policy Engagement, Professor of Public Policy and Sociology, Director of the Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy (CLOSUP)

Jeffrey Morenoff is a Professor in the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and the Department of Sociology, and Research Professor in the Population Studies Center and Survey Research Center. He also serves as Associate Dean for Research and Policy Engagement at the Ford School and Director of the Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy (CLOSUP). Morenoff's research interests include neighborhood environments and population dynamics, community and economic development, crime and criminal justice policy, the social determinants of health, and methods for analyzing multilevel and spatial data. He is also one of the faculty leads of the Detroit Metro Area Communities Study (DMACS), an ongoing public opinion panel survey of Detroit households. DMACS revitalized the longstanding Detroit Area Study, linking rigorous, scientifically grounded methodology with the mission to use data to inform meaningful and effective community development investments in and around Detroit.
