Ford School students are invited to join the Program in Practical Policy Engagement for a discussion with Nicole Wells Stallworth, Oakland University Assistant Vice President for Government & Community Relations.

About our speaker

Nicole Wells Stallworth is Assistant Vice President for Government & Community Relations at Oakland University where she heads the University’s community relations presence, advocacy related initiatives, and direct engagement of local elected officials in the townships & municipalities of Wayne, Oakland & Macomb Counties.  A seasoned government relations and public affairs executive, Stallworth has more than 20 years of experience in government relations and public affairs. 

Specializing in issue advocacy, Nicole has worked to facilitate access to an equitable quality of life for the underrepresented and underserved, for the better part of her career. She has served as advisor to the Farmington Hills Public Schools board of education on Anti-Racism, and to the Chair of the Wayne County Commission in the formation of the Wayne County Women’s Commission. Stallworth serves as and equity advocate with The Education Trust- Midwest, Chairs the board of directors for MacDowell Preparatory Academy, a k-8 charter school in Northwest Detroit, is a member of the Foundation Board of the Women Officials Network, and is a member of the board of directors for Franklin Wright Settlements, Inc. 

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, and a Master of Arts in Communications from Wayne State University. Nicole is a Michigan Political Leadership Program Alumni Fellow and a member of Leadership Detroit class XXXVII.

P3E's Young Leaders in Public Service series provides the opportunity for a small group of students to hear from and talk with elected officials and staff who will share their journeys, what led them to dedicating their lives to public service, and the skills that have helped them be successful.
